COMMUNITY

OUR NON-PROFITS

Year to Date Donated

8 Thousand Dollars

192 Volunteered Hours

Face 2 Face loves our communities, and one way we show it is by highlighting a local, grassroots, non-profit in our area. We take one non-profit per quarter and collect donations in money, volunteering and gifts in kind for that non-profit.

We understand the value of non-profits and how they can empower and change our communities for growth and sustainability. We have chosen our highlighted non-profits with a few things in mind. The donations stay local, the individuals receive hope and are empowered for change, with keeping economic growth as our heart beat we want to further the cause of the non-profits that educate, train or undergird entrepreneurialism.

The Rescue Mission

CHALLENGE LEARNING PROGRAM

Partnering with students to help them get further, faster.

The Rescue Mission’s Challenge Learning Program addresses two facets of adult education; GED Preparation (High School Diploma Equivalent) for community members and New Life Program and Family Life Program participants, and ABE (Adult Basic Education) classes for NLP and FLP participants. All services are free to clients and community members.

The Challenge Learning Program partners with local community colleges and vocational schools, referring students to services available at these institutions if the Mission is not the right fit for them.

ESL (English as a Second Language) Learners and those looking for assistance with resume preparation will be referred to a qualified outside organization.

F2F will be supporting the "Challenge Learning Program" by collecting school supplies. Here is a list of supplies the students need.

No. 2 pencils ~ Mechanical pencils ~ Colored pencils ~ A pencil sharpener (hand-held with a top to collect shavings) ~ A large pink eraser ~ Ballpoint pens (Get a few red-ink ones too, because some teachers have students do peer editing.) ~ Highlighters ~ Spiral-bound or composition notebooks ~ Loose-leaf notebook paper ~ A ruler with English and metric measurements ~ Several three-ring binders ~ A three-hole punch (a regular one or one that fits in a three-ring binder) ~ A pencil case that fits in a binder ~ Binder dividers (The kinds with pockets are good for loose papers.) ~ Pocket folders ~ Folders that fit in binders ~ A calendar or planner for scheduling or recording assignments ~ A sturdy, supportive backpack ~ Index cards, ruled and unruled (These are great for making flash cards.) ~ Highlighters ~ A calculator

PLEASE BRING YOUR DONATIONS TO YOUR F2F LOCATION. KEEP IN MIND THE SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE WILL BE GOING ON THROUGH THE END OF JUNE.
